Ongoing advances in artificial intelligence are requiring that mathematicians re-imagine workflows, objective measurement, and our relationship with the discipline. To navigate this shift, we are offering an intensive five-day workshop to rapidly introduce research mathematicians to the foundations of AI and computation. Throughout the workshop we will also introduce practical AI tools and demonstrate how they can be integrated into mathematical research.

The first three days of this workshop will provide a crash course in computation, the mechanics of large language models, and avenues for the integration of these tools into research. In the final two days, participants will split into working groups with the goal of identifying and posing solutions to AI-tractable problems in their own work.

When and where

The workshop will run Wednesday, October 28th to Sunday, November 1st in Santa Cruz, California. More details on venue location to come.
